Mikel Morgan is an accomplished musician and songwriter ,with 20 years of experience. Being born and raised in the Church of God in Christ His love for the Hammond Organ began sitting in church services watching older musicians go forth on the Hammond. He joined the choir only to be closer to the organist so that he could watch and learn. There were many Sundays after church that he could not wait to go up on the stage and get the opportunity to play around on the Hammond organ. Mikel is also a violinist and served as first chair in the orchestra which cultivated him musically to become more fluent and knowledgeable with playing the Hammond. As time progressed and he grew in his gift and he became the assistant organist for his church, shortly after he was promoted to chief organist for the ministry.
As a young person has traveled the country playing the Hammond for many National Gospel artist and notable preachers. He has also been afforded the opportunity to serve as the organist on live and studio recordings. Since his progression in his musical career he now proudly travels and plays the Hammond SKX. When asked about how deep his love is for the Hammond organ he states “I don’t know what my life would without it”. He also believes the Hammond is part of his D.N.A. , and it is like second nature to sit at the instrument.
Mikel is the Organist / Min of Music at the illustrious Perfecting Institutional Church located in Orangeburg SC.
Mikel always says no matter how far he travels as long as he can get to a Hammond organ he is always right at home !!
