Andy Plays the A-3 System and Leslie 3300
Andy Burton is a keyboardist, vocalist and composer based in the New York City area. He is currently touring the world with Steven Van Zandt’s Little Steven and the Disciples of Soul. Andy has played on world tours with multi-Grammy-winning artists such as John Mayer, Rufus Wainwright, Cyndi Lauper and many more. As a musician, his major influences are: (on piano) Fréderic Chopin, J.S. Bach, James Booker, James P. Johnson, Ray Charles, and Jerry Lee Lewis. On Hammond organ he counts Richard “Groove” Holmes, Jimmy Smith, Booker T., Hi Records’ Charles Hodges, Benmont Tench of the Heartbreakers among his heroes, while also admiring contemporary Hammond greats such as Joey DeFrancesco, Lacey Dooley and Cory Henry. He also owes substantial debts to Stevie Wonder, Billy Preston, and legendary session musicians Nicky Hopkins and Paul Griffin. He loves great music from any era, right up to modern softsynth-driven production.
His touring rig now features an XK5 in an “A3” Heritage Pro system and a Leslie 3300, after years of using vintage B3’s and 122’s. And he’s not looking back!
