Mick Utley

With: the Coral Reefer Band

Mick Utley is a writer, producer, composer, and keyboardist from Los Angeles. He spent his childhood playing piano and went on to study jazz at The University of Miami. It was there that he fell in love with writing music and playing in bands. Through his exposure to the recording process at that time, he started experimenting with production. With years of writing, recording, producing, and touring under his belt, he has a multi-faceted background that also lends experience and creativity to composing for film and television. He has cuts with major recording artists like Jimmy Buffett, as well as writing and production credits with many up-and-coming artists (Athena, D A V I S, Nilka). He has writing and production placements on a myriad of networks, such as Showtime (Shameless) and MTV (Siesta Key, Teen Mom, Jersey Shore). He also works with production libraries (Velvet Green Music/Bulletproof Bear) and has commercial credits (including the official Marquita Bradshaw campaign for US Senate). Additionally, he produced and hosted At Home With the Coral Reefer Band for Margaritaville TV and Radio Margaritaville.

Mick toured with Jimmy Buffett as a member of The Coral Reefer Band until late 2023. He continues to tour with The CRB as well as his band, Floating Collective, whose debut album was released on Mailboat Records in October 2024. He also serves as musical director for LA-based comedy and variety show, The Good Country Goodtime, fronting the house band, Mick Utley and The Goodtimers.
