Theodis Rodgers, Jr., a jazz organist and multi-keyboardist from Chicago, Illinois, has made notable contributions to the music industry. His diverse career spans theater, television, and motion pictures, where he has performed, composed, arranged, produced, and conducted music both nationally and internationally. His extensive discography includes numerous album recordings.
Theodis has had the privilege of collaborating with renowned artists such as Curtis Mayfield, Patti LaBelle, Angela Bofill, Jennifer Holiday, Sarah Vaughn, Liv Warfield, Ramsey Lewis, Freddie Hubbard, Phil Upchurch, The Chi-Lites, The Manhattans, The Emotions, The Dells, Henry Johnson, Jerry Butler, Tyrone Davis, Gene Chandler, and Dennis DeYoung. He was also a member of the funk/rock band LoveCraft.
In the film industry, Theodis has made a cameo appearance in the movie “Indecent Proposal,” starring Sheena Easton. He also co-wrote the music for the movie “A Family Thing,” which featured actors Robert DuVall and James Earl Jones.
Theo’s theatrical performances as a musical director and/or pianist have included productions of “Ain’t Misbehavin’,” “Dreamgirls,” and “Jesus Christ Superstar.”
Currently, Theo serves as the Music Director for Teatro Zinzanni Chicago. He resides in Chicago and performs regularly with his piano and organ jazz trio, traveling internationally to showcase his talents.
